Testimony: Nestlé Waters Italy chooses Sleever as a partner to accelerate its ecological transition
The ecological transition is at the heart of the strategy of the Nestlé Group. The Nestlé Waters subsidiary has set ambitious objectives for reducing energy consumption at its Italian site, San Pellegrino, where Levissima mineral water is packaged. The recent choice of a Sleever shrink-sleeve labelling equipment, has made it possible to meet this challenge.
As says Mr Filippo CESARI, Plant Manager at San Pellegrino for Nestlé Waters in Italy: "We decided to replace a specific machine, and we chose the Combisteam LPDET®: a move dictated by the goal of reducing our environmental impact, making energy savings, and maximizing the efficiency of production. Even in front of the difficulties presented by the sanitary crisis, with a perfect remote communication, Sleever has allowed us to obtain the expected results".
The choice of this equipment allowed San Pellegrino to meet 2 major objectives of its specifications:
1/ To significantly reduce its energy consumption by 60% by switching from a machine with a double shrinking-tunnel, with a consumption of 500 Kg steam/h to a single tunnel with a consumption of 150 Kg steam/h. This technology includes a system for adjusting the height of the tunnel to that of the products and regulating consumption according to their size, combined with a principle of recovery of unused condensate to further optimize consumption.
2/ Benefit from a great flexibility
- in the use of shrink-sleeves: from existing films to new generation products accompanying the closed-loop recycling of PET bottles, such as our LDPET® full-body decoration product
- in the use of bottles with multiple shapes and capacities
- in the integration of modules, such as a drying module, to improve the efficiency of the line.
Success of such industrial projects passes through a solid and lasting relationship with its industrial partners. "Constant dialogue and support make the difference", says Cesari to explain the choice of Sleever.
